How the Law of Attraction Really Works
The Law of Attraction is based upon the belief that like attracts like and that your thoughts create your reality. Your thoughts are made of energy and that energy is what helps you manifest your desires. The catch is that, as humans, we have negative as well as positive thoughts so if your focus is on negative thoughts, that’s what you will bring into your life. On the positive side, you can learn to harness your thoughts to improve your wealth, health, and relationships.
So how do you use the Law of Attraction in your favor? The key is in four powers you hold inside yourself: your thoughts, emotions, visualizations, and actions. Remember, you can’t skip one and expect to manifest easily. You must use them all together and purposefully.
Here are the six basic and critical steps that you must go through to manifest what you want in your life.
1. Change Negative Thoughts into Positive Thoughts
It’s estimated that we have 16,000 thoughts every single day. Both your conscious and your subconscious are at work and active all the time. While you may not have complete control over every single thought that you have, you can learn to be in control of your thoughts. The first thing to do is to identify the negative thoughts that you have so that you can turn the thought into a positive one. For example, you may think, “That’s too hard for me. I’m not good with tech.” Change it to, “I’ve been able to learn new things before and I know I can learn this too.” It may seem awkward initially, but with time, you’ll find you have fewer negative thoughts and more positive ones.
2. Know What You Do Not Want
For many people, this may seem counterintuitive or negative even but many times knowing what you don’t want makes it easier to know what you really do want. When you think about the vision for your future what do you know that you do not want to have in it? Maybe it’s a type of relationship or maybe it’s a job that you do not like. Once you’re done deciding in this step, do not focus on what you don’t want, but the vision of its absence. As soon as you move to step 3, you can forget about what you do not want.
3. Know What You DO Want
Be as crystal clear about what you want as possible. What is your vision, EXACTLY? Because the Law of Attraction basically states that you’re a magnet, you attract the images in your head. Focus strongly on what your mind is putting together and be very clear and specific about the vision -- see the details, never be vague. Think of different aspects in your life: abundance, happiness, health, money, relationships, career, lifestyle, etc. and include what’s important in your vision. Never make yourself wrong for the desires of your heart or try to convince yourself out of them.
4. Ask For It
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
While you are visualizing what you want, ask for it every day until you receive it. Know that there is the Law of Gestation and the timing cannot be forced. One of the most powerful things that you can do is directly ask The Universe for what you want. Repeat it often and focus on your desire, believing that you will receive it. Any doubt in your energy will repel the exact thing that you are wanting, so if those thoughts come into your head, turn them around with a positive thought. You must make it your intention that what you ask for is on its way and is being given to you.
5. Allow It
It may seem odd that someone wouldn’t allow what they want into their life, especially when they’re asking for it every day, but sometimes we feel like we don’t deserve it. This is a repelling energy. Instead, the key during this step is to ask yourself if you’re truly allowing yourself to have it. You must align your thinking, feeling, and allowing actions to work together to get what you want. Open your arms and say, “I receive it.” Do it imagining your vision getting closer and closer to you because you deserve every good thing in life.
6. Receive It
One you receive exactly what you’ve asked for, enjoy it and be grateful for it. The energy of your gratefulness will help you attract even more things into your life. It tells The Universe that you want to continue to receive amazing things into your life.
Using the Law of Attraction may require changes in your life. You may need to change the way you do things, the habits that create your thoughts, and be willing to dig into your sense of deservedness. Know this: you can and will receive anything and everything you ask for.
If it’s not working, go back and retrace your steps, being completely honest with yourself. Re-evaluate the steps and your thoughts. While the above six steps may seem simple, they do require an emotional charge. That is the energy that makes the Law of Attraction work.
