7 Signs Your Own Healing Journey May Be Leading You to Sound Healing
Sometimes the thing you discover while trying to help yourself becomes something you eventually want to share with others.
Most people don't wake up one morning and think:
“I think I'll become a sound healer.”
For many of us, it starts somewhere completely different.
It starts with ourselves.
Maybe you've been on your own health or wellness journey.
Maybe you're exhausted.
Stressed.
Overwhelmed.
Dealing with something physically or emotionally.
Maybe you've been through a major life change.
Maybe you've tried the things you were told to try, but you still find yourself wondering:
What else is out there?
So you start searching.
And if you've ever been on that kind of search, you know how it goes.
One thing leads to another.
You read about meditation.
Then breathwork.
Energy.
The nervous system.
Frequency.
Vibration.
Singing bowls.
Tuning forks.
Maybe someone tells you about a sound bath.
Maybe you hear a singing bowl for the first time.
And suddenly you've entered a world you knew absolutely nothing about six months ago.
That's how it happened for me.
I Wasn't Looking to Become a Sound Healer. I Was Looking for Answers for Myself.

My journey into this world wasn't part of some grand business plan.
I was sick.
I was dealing with Chronic Lyme Disease and multiple tick-borne infections, along with fatigue, brain fog, pain, memory problems and a body that seemed to react to everything.
I wasn't thinking about certification.
I wasn't thinking about teaching sound healing.
I certainly wasn't imagining building a company that would eventually teach people around the world.
I was trying to feel better.
And when you're searching for answers for yourself, you can end up exploring things you might never have considered before, especially when modern medical strategies run dry.
For me, that search eventually introduced me to frequency-based approaches, including Rife frequencies.
And that opened up an entirely different way of thinking about vibration, frequency, energy and sound.
I became fascinated.
I didn't just want to experience these things.
I wanted to understand them.
Why frequency?
Why vibration?
Why did different sounds create such different experiences?
What else was there that I didn't know?
That curiosity eventually led me deeper into sound and energy work.
And somewhere along the way, something changed.
What I originally explored because I was trying to help myself became something I wanted to understand deeply enough to eventually share with other people.
And apparently, I'm far from alone.
“I Needed to Heal Myself.”
I recently polled members of our Life Changing Energy community about what originally drew them to sound healing.
I noticed something almost immediately.
Again and again, the answers weren't:
“I wanted a new career.”
They were about healing.
One person simply said:
“I needed to heal myself.”
Another described first experiencing vibrational treatments while seriously ill. Because she had also been a harpist since she was 16, the experience made her begin thinking differently about music, vibration and wellbeing and eventually led her much deeper into sound.
Another member's journey involved not only herself, but people she loved. She described wanting to help herself, her husband during cancer, and her father while he lived with Parkinson's and dementia. That path eventually influenced the work she did with older adults in assisted living and memory care.
Another had been working in an ER when she attended her first sound bath. That experience eventually led her to earn certifications and begin facilitating sound baths herself.
All different lives, experiences and reasons for searching.
But one pattern over again and again:
Sometimes the desire to help other people begins with the desire to help yourself when you realize you've found something that you absolutely need to share.
And if that's how you've found yourself here, you might recognize a few of these signs.

1. You Started Exploring Sound Because You Were Looking for Something for YOU
This is the big one.
You weren't researching sound healing because you were looking for your next business opportunity.
You weren't thinking:
“How can I monetize this?”
You were thinking:
“I wonder if this could help me.”
Maybe someone recommended a sound bath.
Maybe you were already exploring meditation, yoga, breathwork, Reiki, or other complementary wellness practices.
Maybe you started listening to different frequencies.
Maybe a singing bowl showed up in your feed and you became curious.
Or maybe you can't even explain exactly how you got here.
You just know that somewhere along your own journey...
sound entered the picture.
And you wanted to experience it.
That's enough.
You don't need to know where it's leading.
You don't have to decide whether you believe every claim you've ever heard about frequency or vibration.
You can simply be curious.
That's how many journeys begin.

2. Experiencing Sound Isn't Enough Anymore. You Want to Understand It
There's a point where curiosity changes.
At first, you might be perfectly happy attending a sound bath.
You lie down.
You listen.
You experience it.
You go home.
But eventually... you start watching the person playing the instruments.
Why did they choose that bowl?
Why are some bowls crystal and others metal?
Why are the bowls different sizes?
What are tuning forks?
What does the gong add?
Why did they play that instrument at that particular moment?
Why did one sound feel completely different from another?
What exactly is frequency?
How does vibration travel?
And suddenly you're not simply experiencing sound anymore.
You're studying it without realizing you're studying it.
You start reading.
Watching videos.
Following practitioners.
Looking up instruments.
Maybe you find yourself going down the occasional late-night frequency rabbit hole.
And eventually you realize:
“I don't just want to experience this. I want to understand what they're doing.”
That's a very different kind of curiosity.

3. You Bought Your First Instrument
Ah yes. Maybe you were gifted a singing bowl or found one accidentally in a resale shop.
The first singing bowl.
Then you discovered tuning forks.
Or chimes.
Or a drum.
And suddenly there's another package on the porch and someone in your house is asking:
“Didn't you already buy sound healing instruments?”
Yes.
Yes, you did.
But this one is different.
If you know, you know.
All joking aside, buying your first instrument can represent a real shift.
Before, sound was something someone else created for you.
Now you're creating it yourself.
You learn how to make your bowl sing.
You experiment.
You listen.
You notice how different techniques create different sounds.
And eventually another thought appears, “Am I actually doing this correctly?”
Because that's when you start realizing:
Owning a singing bowl and understanding how to thoughtfully work with sound are two completely different things.

4. You Started Sharing Sound With Someone Else
This often happens without any grand plan. You start sharing what's been helping you. You're excited with the research you've found.
You're playing your bowl at home.
Your spouse hears it.
Your kids ask what you're doing.
A friend comes over and sees your bowl sitting there.
Someone asks:
“What's that?”
So you show them.
You play it.
Maybe they close their eyes.
Maybe they become curious too.
Maybe they say, “I really felt that.”
And something changes.
Because suddenly sound isn't only something you're exploring for yourself.
You're sharing it.
And maybe you like that feeling.
Maybe you find yourself thinking about who else might enjoy it.
A parent.
A friend.
Someone going through a difficult time.
Someone who already loves meditation.
Maybe you're already a Reiki practitioner, massage therapist, yoga teacher, coach or wellness professional and you start thinking about your clients.
Could I somehow incorporate this into what I already do?
That's when the journey can start moving in a completely different direction.

5. You Started Asking Questions You Couldn't Answer
This is where owning an instrument can stop feeling like enough.
Because once you start thinking about using sound with another person, the questions become more important.
Someone asks, “What and how does this bowl's frequency help?”
And you're not entirely sure.
Or you start wondering:
How loud should I play?
How close should an instrument be to someone?
Are there situations where I shouldn't use certain instruments?
How would I structure an entire session?
How do I transition between instruments?
What should I know before facilitating sound for a group?
How do I begin?
How do I end?
Suddenly, piecing together random information from social media or YouTube doesn't feel sufficient.
And that's actually a good realization.
Because there's a difference between learning how to make an instrument produce sound and learning how to thoughtfully facilitate an experience for someone else.
At some point, curiosity becomes, “I think I actually want to learn this.”
Not another random reel.
Not another five-minute video.
Actual training.

6. You Caught Yourself Thinking, “Could I Actually Do This?”
This is the part that can surprise people.
Because remember... you didn't start here.
You started because you were looking for something for yourself.
But now you're imagining something else.
Maybe you've attended a sound bath and caught yourself watching the practitioner thinking, “I would love to know how to do this.”
Maybe you've imagined playing for friends or family.
Maybe you already work in wellness and wonder how sound could complement what you're already doing.
Maybe you picture yourself hosting a small group.
A sound bath.
A meditation experience.
A workshop.
A retreat.
Or maybe the thought is still tiny, “I wonder if I could actually become a sound healer.”
And almost immediately, your brain gives you all the reasons you can't.
I'm not musical.
I'm too old.
I'm too new.
I don't know enough.
I don't own enough instruments.
I already have a career.
I don't want another business.
What would I even do with a certification?
Here's what I want you to know:
You don't have to know.
Learning sound healing doesn't obligate you to quit your job and open a studio.
You can learn for yourself.
You can incorporate it into something you already do.
You can eventually facilitate groups.
You can add it to retreats.
You can build an offering around it.
Or you can simply learn because something inside you keeps saying, “I want to know more.”
You don't have to know the ending before you're allowed to begin.

7. Sound Keeps Calling You Back
Maybe this is the most important sign of all.
It isn't going away.
You think about taking a course.
Then life gets busy.
You forget about it.
And then another singing bowl catches your attention.
You attend another sound bath.
Someone starts talking about tuning forks.
You see another training.
You find yourself researching frequency again.
You put the idea away.
And a few months later... there it is again.
Sound.
Maybe you call that intuition.
Maybe you call it synchronicity.
Maybe it's simply curiosity.
I don't think we always have to assign meaning to everything that catches our attention.
But I do think there's value in noticing what continues to catch our attention.
Because sometimes the things that eventually become important parts of our lives don't arrive with a giant flashing sign saying: THIS IS YOUR PURPOSE.
Sometimes they begin with a quiet:
“Hmmm...I'd really like to learn more about that.”
And then they keep coming back.
Maybe the Question Isn't “Should I Become a Sound Healer?”
That's a big question.
And you may not be ready to answer it.
So don't.
Ask yourself something much smaller, “Do I want to understand sound healing more deeply?”
That's it.
If the answer is yes, you have your next step.
You can learn because you're curious.
You can learn because you're on your own healing journey.
You can learn because you love sound.
You can learn because you already work with people and wonder how this might fit into what you're doing.
You can learn because someday you might want to share it.
And you can learn without having the slightest idea what you're going to do with it.
Sometimes learning is how you find out.
What Starts With You Can Become Something Much Bigger
That's the part I didn't understand when I was going through my own health journey.
I was looking for answers for me.
I had no idea where that search would eventually lead.
And we've seen versions of that same progression throughout our community.
Someone starts because they're trying to help themselves.
Then they become curious.
They learn.
They experience something that makes them want to know more.
Then maybe they buy an instrument.
They start practicing.
They share it with someone.
They realize how much more there is to learn.
And one day they look back and realize, “This isn't just something I'm interested in anymore.”
It's become part of who they are.
One member of our community described her own healing journey and a life-changing near-death experience as part of what eventually led her toward helping others.
Another described feeling “called into healing” through a progression that included respiratory therapy, massage, Reiki, life and health coaching, and eventually incorporating sound into her work.
You don't have to know whether your story will look anything like theirs.
Your story gets to be yours.
But if something inside you keeps pulling you toward sound... maybe you don't need to figure out exactly why before you follow it.
Maybe Your Next Step Is Simply Learning More
You don't have to decide today that you're changing careers.
You don't need to open a sound healing studio.
You don't need a room full of instruments.
And you don't need to know exactly what you'll eventually do with a certification.
You can simply follow your curiosity.
Learn.
Explore.
Experience.
And see where it leads.
If you're ready to understand sound healing on a deeper level, we'd love to help you take that next step.
And Right Now, You Don't Have to Choose Just One Area of Sound Healing.
Sound healing is much bigger than a single bowl or instrument.
There are different instruments.
Different techniques.
Different ways of working with sound.
And sometimes you don't know what you're going to fall in love with until you start learning.
